Consuming A Liquid Detox Diet Is Anything But Enjoyable

When it comes to giving the body a much needed rest, and allowing it to revitalize and re-energize, the best, simplest, way to get the job done is with a liquid detox diet. I know what you’re probably thinking, “This guy’s talking about fasting. I hate fasting. I’m outta here.”

Before you take off, just know that, yes, I am talking about fasting, but that’s just one part liquid detox diet will suckof a liquid diet. Here’s a couple of things you need to realize about detoxifying the body – it isn’t comfortable or enjoyable.

Anyone that tries to sell you that line, is looking to sell you something else as well. I’ve done a number of detoxes over the last ten years, and I’ve enjoyed none of them. The idea is not to feel warm and fuzzy about the process; the idea is to get the most benefit from that discomfort.

I mean, if you are going to be uncomfortable, why not make sure you’re going to get the most out of it, right? Fasting is one aspect of liquid detoxification. In our world, here at www.detoxcleansingdiet.org, we see fasting as only drinking liquids, every day, for a max out period of three days.

Of course, you can do whatever you’d like to do; but we think that three days is more than enough time to get the value provided by deciding to skip eating solid food for 72 hours; and only feeding the body vitamins and minerals through a liquid form.

So how do you fast? It’s quite simple. You can drink structured water for the duration of your fast. Structured water is taking filtered water, and applying a few elements to it that causes the water to become a dynamic property; and not your standard H2O.

You can add a little Himalayan sea salt, just a pinch, and a squeeze, or slice, of lemon. Lemons bring a ton of value to the game, including helping the liver function at a high level. There are other ways you structure water, like adding powdered greens.

Green drinks have become a staple in cleansing diets over the past 10 years. They’re easy to make, and have a ton of nutrients and vitamins. Of course, noting is quite as nutritious as a fresh juice; made from scratch right in front of you – but not everyone has access to a juicer, or health store that offers juicing.

In those instance, buying a high quality mixed green drink will work perfectly. Another way you can fast is with green herbal tea. When you eliminate the sugar, and all the other additives, that tend to take away more than they provide, you have an excellent liquid nutrient that’ easy to make, as well as consume.

One level below these options, for fasting anyway, is the mixed drinks; like you find with The Master Cleanse. This drink contains lemons, and maple syrup, for the most part, and is consumed for as little as seven days, or as long as 30.

Since The Master Cleanse can be done in a variety of ways, we don’t label it a fast; although it could be. If you decided to drink it, as it was originally created, then we suggest you only do so for three days. Although everyone’s genetic make-up is different, fasting after three days, in our experience, tends to affect your body adversely.

What doesn’t affect your body after the same period of time, is the second half to a liquid detox; and that’s a cleanse. A cleanse is made up of all the liquids we just covered, and also contains green smoothies, and fruit smoothies as well.

A smoothies, which is a blend of whole foods, is, essentially, drinking a bowl of fruits, or vegetable, or in some cases – both! Why cleansing can last for as many as 30 days, is because you are consuming whole foods – they happened to be blended into a baby food-type texture.

With juicing, precious minerals and nutrients are discarded in the process. These elements are critical to helping the body maintain it’s ability to function at a high level. When these elements are not fed to the body regularly, the body starts pulling what it needs from other areas.

Once this begins, breakdown, and organ malfunction begins to take place. If you let that process continue, eventually it turns into cellular malfunction; and this causes disease. This is why we suggest fasting for short periods of time, which your body can easily handle; and cleansing for a longer period of time, like 7-10 days, which again – your body can easily handle.

However, in either case, because you are not eating, there will be discomfort. You will be annoyed, irritable, and tough to be around for a few days, but that pain is what gives the body rejuvenation. Take the next few days off, and start a cleanse or fast – your body will thank you for it.

Discovering Seven Foods That Cleanse The Liver Daily

From the good people over at Natural News, I was able to find a list of seven foods you want to add to your diet that will cleanse the liver on a regular basis. Now here’s the thing – if all you do is add these foods, and you continue to eat fast food every day, take a ton of drugs, drink hard liquor several times a week, and you never exercise, then guess what? You will become diseased at some point in time – plain and simple.

You cannot just “add” these foods, without adding other key components as well. With health, as it is with life, the more you can add to the pot over time, the better it’s going to be – it’s called progress. If all you can do is eat a salad from McDonalds without puking, then start with the McDonalds salad.

In time, you’ll develop the taste buds to add vegetables to that salad that Mickey Dees doesn’t offer. Soon thereafter you’re going to try a real salad, and realize the McDonald salad was a joke next to a real one. Not too long after that you’re going to be eating greens you once thought were disgusting, like kale.

It’s a progression over time. However, if all you do is add these foods, and you do not add other key components, like drinking water on a regular basis, creating a daily movement program, and taking time to breathe the stress out of your life, then you will be wasting your time.

The first up is Garlic, and garlic is made up of compounds that contain sulfur, which activate enzymes that help to flush toxins from the body. It also contains allicin and selenium, two phytonutrients proven to protect the liver from damage, while also aiding in the liver’s normal detox process as well.

Next are grapefruits. I’ve always loved grapefruits, and really never knew they were great for helping the liver burn fat, and not just store it. Grapefruits make your face do all kind of stupid faces when you bite into them because they’re so tart, but then we do it all over again – what’s wrong with us?!

Green tea is brimming with catechins, a kind of plant antioxidant that studies have shown helps eliminate fat accumulation that occurs over time, which can lead to liver malfunction. In addition, green tea helps with protecting the liver as well.

Leafy green vegetables like spinach, arugula, dandelion greens, chicory, mustard greens, and bitter gourd contain a number of compounds that help stop damaging toxins in their place. Leafy greens also help to eliminate herbicides and pesticides from the body, while also helping with the production of bile.

Another one of my favorite veggie-fruits is avocado. I call them a veggie-fruit because I only ever eat these things with a salad – never by themselves. I can eat a mango all by itself. I can eat a watermelon all by itself. Avocado goes in a salad, with other vegetables – hence the name, veggie-fruit.

But these bad boys are loaded with compounds that help to produce glutathione, which helps protect the liver from a toxic overload. Some researchers have science that shows eating one or two avocados a day, for 30 days, can help repair a damaged liver.

Walnuts also contain glutathione, but they also are filled with amino acid called l-arginine, and omega-3 fatty acids; which helps detoxify the liver of ammonia. Surprisingly, a nut, like a walnut, helps to oxygenate the blood, and even their hard shells contain elements that can be used in liver-cleansing formulas.

The last food is Turmeric, which looks more like a powder, or spice, than an herb.  This one food can actually help to regenerate damaged liver cells, boosts the production of bile, and helps to improve gallbladder function.

All these foods, when added to your daily diet, and in conjunction with water, the right amount of sleep, a movement program, and all the rest, will help you detox your liver almost on a daily basis. Can you handle that? Truth is most people won’t.

It doesn’t mean they aren’t able to, it just means they have decided not to become focused on what they want. If you’re more worried about a big screen TV, than you are your liver – guess what? You’re buying that big screen TV, no matter what’s going on with the lver. It’s all about focus and priorities.

When your health becomes apriority in your life, then all the stuff we talk about here on this site becomes a breeze. Until then, it’s all “hard” and “uncomfortable.” The day I decided to get real with myself, and get serious about my health, all the stuff that held me back just seemed to dis appear.

The same will happen for you. You just need to get serious. When you do, watch how much your body can deliver when you feed it the fuel it needs to burn at levels you once thought were impossible.

If you come across a website that lists the symptoms you should be on the lookout for if your liver is failing, and it looks like this:

  • Food sensitivities
  • Fatigue
  • Bad breath
  • Digestive problems
  • Memory problems

  • Rashes, acne or itchy skin
  • Coated film on your tongue

Honestly, I’m not mad at all. I think it’s brilliant, because it’s truly a win-win. The marketer gets to sell their product, and you get to rid yourself of these symptoms – or do you? See, here’s the challenge I have with this kind of marketing – it’s not meant to educate, motivate, and inspire you to new heights once you start the detox.

Many of these companies will sell you a kit; and maybe get you on an autoship program, but hardly any of them are interested in making sure you fully understand what’s needed to create real health in your life.

I think, and maybe it’s just the cynic in me, it’s because, they are more interested in having you buy their products on an ongoing basis, than showing you how to be healthy long-term. I’d hate to think that’s it, but I’ve bought kits, pills, and all the rest, from a bunch of different companies, and only a handful ever provide any kind of education that really helps.

What you tend to get instead, is a salesletter disguised as an educational piece. It goes on and on about how a certain part of the body works, and then – BAM! An offer to buy a pill or vitamin that helps hat area.

What’s crazy is that I totally get it. I’m a marketer as well. I have stuff I sell online too, but does it always have to be about selling me something? Is it possible you can show me how to think “healthy,” so I can go about it on my own; and if I want to supplement my diet with stuff that your products provide, I’ll visit your store first before going to anyone else?

Cleansing the kidney and liver is vital to long term vibrancy. I’m not going to say it’s vital to long-term health, because I’ve seen people absolutely abuse their bodies, and they died at 95 – how do you explain that?

On the other hand, that same person spent the last ten years of their life existing – not living. You can be alive, and not be living anymore. See, when I die I want to make sure that I fired every bullet I had in my gun. I want my tank on empty – can I throw anymore horrible metaphors into this paragraph?

In other words, I want to be that old guy you see still showing up to the gym, or the adult monkey bars, and getting a full workout – even in my 90s. That to me is living healthy and vibrant. If you want to live that way, I think it’s critical that you take the time to take extra care of what’s underneath the hood – your internal organs.

If you want to start this process without using a cleansing product, kit, or pills it’s really quite simple. Decide to start eating a detox diet on a regular basis. What’s a detox diet? It’s, essentially, a water-based diet. Foods that contain more water than anything else. Foods like fruits and vegetables if you were trying to figure out what the heck I was talking about.

When you eat more of these foods, and less of the concentrated crap we throw into our systems on a daily basis, you take pressure off the systems of elimination we each have working within us. When these systems can work the way they were designed to, the gaining process follows it’s natural timeline.

Did you know there were warrior kings that ruled in days past? A warrior king was a guy who was in his forties and fifties, sometimes it was even into their sixties, and in those days that was considered old; and this guy would lead his army in battles.

Get a guy in his sixties to participate in a game of tag football, or even something more laid back like baseball – forget it, it’s not happening. Why? Because by the time most of us get to forty years old, we’re broken down, due to all the pressure we put on our bodies, both internally and externally.

Working on both is well beyond the scope of this article, but if you can just start on what you eat, and think about how much of your diet is made up of these water-based foods, you’ll be on your way. Once you have that firmly in place, and you’re eating a diet made up of about 60-70% water-based foods on a regular basis, you can start thinking about supplementing that with all the other products available online today.

So what’s the best liver cleanse on the market today? The answer is simple – the one you decide to put into action every single day. I’m not trying to sound “cute,” but it’s the truth. Too often we get wrapped up in believing that a detox is something you do one or twice a tear, and that’s it.

But just stop and think about the idea behind a detox. Why do we detox at all? We do it because the body is polluted with toxicities all day, every day, 365 days a year. If we don’t take a few days to reset our system, we run the risk of disease growing somewhere in the body.

Well, if we finish up a detox, and now the body is “clean,” in your mind – why wouldn’t you continue to keep it clean? Back in the days, people used to bathe but once a week. Some of my family members have a running joke about it. You’ll say something like, “Man, I feel great. Dehydration – if you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a thousand times. The world is made up mostly of water. The body is made up mostly of water. Your brain is made up mostly of water. So what do you think you should be drinking most of the time? That’s right – everything but water!!

There are some people that drink more juice, soda, and/or beer than they do water; and wonder how they ever developed the sicknesses they are now dealing with. If all you’re doing is slamming down cheese puffs and slurpies every day after work, how well do you think that’s going to be received in your gut? Your poor stomach, and digestive system, is going to give you the middle finger every time you decide to send those jokers down their path.

Focus on water-based foods – fruits and veggies. When you can make those two groups 60% of your normal, everyday, diet, you are on the road to living a much healthier life. If you want to optimize your diet even more, lower the amount of carbs you take in as well; and make sure the carbs you do consume are of the “clean” variety – sweet potatoes, quinoa, wild rice, etc.

Distress – I do not know one single person that does not have something in their life that causes them stress. Some of have us have more than others, and some of us cause more stress for ourselves than others, but we all have problems.

The key is in being able to handle yourself in a way that doesn’t allow these problems to rule your world. When you do, you emotionalize the situation, and now that isolated thing wraps itself around your every thought – this is unnecessary; and can be controlled.

There are a number of ways you can deal with this – from yoga, to deep breathing exercises, to meditation; it doesn’t matter what it is. Find what works for you and work it. Breathe all that stress right out of your life, and get busy working on ways to solve those problems, and get back to enjoying life.

When you keep the Disease Triad top-of-mind, you make those two detox weeks you put aside every year even more valuable. Now when you cleanse, you clean out a system that is not bogged down with gunk. It makes the detox more effective, and the benefits are felt on a much bigger scale.

The best way to start your detox career, at least in my opinion is with a 3 day detox diet program. It’ only 72 hours long, so even the weakest among us can handle it; and it’s because it’s so short, it cuts down on complications.

One of the issues I have with many of the diet plans today, whether they’re detox diets or regular diets, is the attention given to variety. Variety is the spice of life, but not when to comes to a detox. Detoxes are not meant to be an enjoyable experience, they’re a means to an end.

Even the word, “detox,” does that conjure images of happy times and soft flowers? No way, I picture someone huddled up in a corner, going through something most people will not want any parts of. Well guess what? A detox diet, thankfully, is nowhere close to that mental imagery I gave you, bit if it was – I would still do it; for the results it produces.

A detox allows you to reset the major systems that help to run your body, starting with the digestive system. Because everything in the body is interdependent, what happens to one area in the body, will affect all areas of the body.

So a detox, even though it may only focus on one area, will affect everything else; and it’s important that you allow your body time to rest, rejuvenate, and re-energize. So if that means eating the same three to four meals day-in-and-day-out, then that’s what I’m going to do to be able to get those benefits.

Instead, you get these clever marketers that twist the truth all the way around to get you to part with your hard-earned money; for a rehashed variance of a detox diet. And I get more mad at people that allow themselves to believe they go through something, which requires sacrifice, with virtually no pain, than the marketers themselves.

It’s like going out to buy a used car back in the day. I remember going with my older brother to buy a used car, several times growing up, and I noticed he always had my uncle with him. I realized it was because my uncle knew a lot about the cars that were being sold at that time, so it made sense to have someone, who knew what they were talking about, walk you through the process.

When I became old enough to own a car, I would take one of my friends at the time, by the name of Moose, who knew a ton about cars, out to help me hunt a car down. See, I went out and found someone who proved to me that they knew what they were talking about, and only then did I feel comfortable buying something because this person could help walk me through the buying process.

I see people online today looking for presentation instead of substance. I understand how you present yourself to the marketplace is important, but if a person is more interested in the design of a website, than the information they went online to research, how can I be upset at a marketer for taking their money; and delivering a crappy product?

First things first, if you want to be comfortable, forget about detoxing altogether. Your insides are going to go through hell, but at least you won’t have discomfort. If you want to create more health in your world, then get ready for some discomfort – because that’s exactly what a detox is.

You can, however, mitigate this with some sensible planning, and creating a small list of salads, smoothies, teas, soups, and juices you can use to get you through the process. Think about what I just outlined for you – five different consumable items you can use during a cleanse, does this really sound like you’re doing hard time on Alcatraz?

And a 3 day detox is a short enough window, that by day three, when you’re about to lose your mind completely, you know that you’ll be off the cleanse within a few short hours. I always tell my private clients, that days three and four are the worst during a cleanse.

It seems like the body knows that I’s going to have to deal without eating any “normal” foods going forward, and it lashes out at you in a bad way. Once you move past day four, you level out, and it becomes a much easier process to deal with.

If you’re just getting started though, the best place to start is with a 3 day detox. Of course I can go into all the specifics of a detox, but as I’ve mentioned many times here on this site, I teach principles – not practices.

Well that’s not entirely true, I teach practices to my private clients and members of our newsletter, but the public, people like you that end up on this site looking for freebies, I know nine out of ten of you won’t implement half the stuff I write about anyway – so why go into details?

I’d rather teach you a principal like resetting your system regularly with something like a cleanse or a fast. You can choose to do a fast, which can last 1 or 3 days, or a cleanse, which can last as long as 30 days in some instances.

Some people do 4 day fasts, others do 90 day cleanses, I’m not here to tell you what’s right or wrong, I’m just here to let you know that if you do not regularly schedule a detox for yourself, then you’re putting yourself at risk for developing disease in your body – how you go about it is entirely up to you.

Have A Defensive Strategy When Using A Detox Liver Program

We’ve discussed several times on this site, the value of having a functioning liver. Truth be told, the word “value” doesn’t even cut it. Your liver is priceless, forget about valuable or even invaluable. Once you liver goes, you’re in trouble.

Doctors of the past, used to be able to look at you and tell if your liver was working properly. They looked at your eyes, and the color of your skin, and would feel around your back, pressing certain areas to see your response. Today, without a wide range of tests – many doctors have no idea if your liver is functioning at a high level.

This is why preventative measures are always the best kind of measures to take. It’s my personal belief that that you play defense with your body, until you’re forced to play offense. I know that may sound a little strange, so let me explain.

Defense, for me, and the way I think, means doing everything you can to make sure you defend your body from toxicities that are constantly attacking it. This comes in the form of what you eat, drink, shower with, breathe in every day, and everything else. Toxicity is everywhere, isn’t it? Well, to guard against that I believe in detoxing my system at least twice a year, and eating a detox diet throughout the year.

This may seem extreme, but what I consider extreme is someone dying at forty-two years old because their liver failed after years of hard drinking, poor diet, and lack of movement. That kind of story seems a lot more extreme than anything I’m doing.

How about a thirty-eight year old stuck in one of those scooters for old people, because they aren’t able to talk around more due to disease in their body? See, that kind of outcome seems ridiculous to me when you compare it with the simple steps I take to ward off that kind of result.

Another part of my defensive strategy is going to the doctor at least once a year for a check-up. I got on doctors more than anyone I personally know, and I rail against them all the time online – but I have respect for them; and I know what they’re qualified to help me with – symptomology.

They can detect any abnormalities in my system better than I ever could, and because they can – I reverse engineer that skill to let me know everything is fine. In other words, if they don’t find anything – I know the steps I’m taking are working, and I just make sure to maintain the strategies and tactics I’m using to be able to repeat that result again and again.

Now the offense starts when they do find something. It’s at that point, that I begin listening to the options they give me, with the last option always being surgery. If you can figure out a way to get the result you want, without them opening up, the better.

This is why detoxing the liver is so vital to your health. Why wait until a doctor is giving you options like “gallbladder removal” to start taking actions that can avoid having to deal with that altogether? Alcohol, taking certain prescription drugs, Hepatitis B, Cancer, and abnormal blood flow can lead to liver disease – and all of these factors can be attributed to lifestyle, and can be reduced, or even eliminated in some cases.

Here are signs that your liver is starting to become sick:

    • For women, PMS or hormonal problems
    • Pain in right side under rib cage (liver area)
    • Yellowish complexion
    • High cholesterol
    • Eye pain/red eyes, or yellow
    • Indigestion after fatty meals
    • Nausea
    • Allergies/hayfever
    • Depression
    • Headaches
    • Irritability/Anger
    • Fatigue
    • Difficulty burning fat
    • Mood swings

Remember, about 75% of liver tissue damage needs to take place before you start seeing the symptoms of disease, but your doctor will usually find out once 90% of damage is already in place. By then, the chances of coming back from that become less and less.

A detox cleanse for your liver is vital to maintaining. Here are some simple steps you can take: create a movement program – get your butt up and moving. Like Brad Pitt’s character in World War Z said, “Movement is life.” Although he was talking about zombies, it’s true I real life as well.

Humans were never meant to sit down at a computer for eight hours a day; and just because you do, doesn’t mean you have to sit on the couch for seven more when you go home. Create a plan that’s revolves around a passion that involves movement, like sports, swimming, martial arts, etc. This makes the working out process less of a chore, any more of a way to help you get better at what it is you already like to do.

If you’re taking a lot of medication, start finding ways to get off them immediately. If you’re taking pills due to high blood pressure, start working on ways to lower your blood pressure. I mean, I know this may sound overly simplistic, but folks – it really is that simple. Do not let the marketers, and powers-that-be, fool you into believing you need medication in your life to be healthy.

We went thousands of years without medication – why would you think we need all of that crap now? Lastly, focus on what you eat. What you eat can either make you or break you. If you ever find yourself pausing just before you order something at a fast food spot, don’t dismiss it – that pause was your unconscious letting you know that what you are eating isn’t good for you. Make a new choice and get something better, or get the heck out of that place altogether.

A full body detox that includes the liver, digestive system, and kidneys is required at least once a year if you’re at all serious about your health. To take proactive measure, you also want to make sure that you are eating a detox-like diet as well. There are, of course, no guarantees in life; but if all you did was all you could do, then at least you can look yourself in the mirror and know that you did everything possible on your own behalf – 9.5 times out of 10, that will be enough.

So what’s the best juice cleanse on the market today? Honestly, I have no idea. However I can tell you this; if someone is promoting something they label as “the best” whatever-it-is, you may want to do a little bit more research before you spend any money on whatever that thing is.

Cleansing is all about washing away toxins from your body, and getting yourself in a place where you have options. For those that seriously need to lose weight, the best thing you can do is to get on a cleanse. If you decide you’re going to lose weight, and you have not prepared your body to shed all that fat, you’re going to find that weight loss is a lot more difficult than you had anticipated.

One of my clients dropped almost 90 lbs. in about six months’ time. She was gung ho about the movement programs I always talked about, and taught, at the martial arts school I taught out of in Ridgewood, NY. While she did drop all that weight.
