With fruits, and vegetables, the body was designed to easily process them, and get then through the system with relative ease. However, if you throw a few slices of pizza into the mix, the body is confused, and expends a lot of energy trying to pull as many fueling elements from this non-food.

Some claim to have clear, level-headed clarity. Even on the most toxic of liquid diets, the alcoholic is known to have what’s known as a “moment of clarity.” If a person, who is slogging down poison that destroys millions of brain cells, is able to think clearly for a minutes, at certain points in their life, what do you think you will experience when you are living health on a regular basis?

One of the major benefits of a detox is neutral breath. This is when you’re talking to someone up close, and you literally do not smell anything, other than maybe the cologne, or perfume, they’re wearing for the day.

Interestingly enough, I’ve found that neutral breath is something I find less of today. This has caused me to change my talking habits, and I now create a small space between the people I’m speaking with. It’s more formal, however, I’ve found that more people are dealing with bad breath, and it’s because they’re toxic; and have no idea they are.

I’ve expressed several times on this site, the value of cleansing out your digestive system to help regulate your inner environment, and maintain some sense of normalcy in a world that is bombarded by toxins – toxins that constantly find their way into your body.

Although this may seem like semantics, we find that after we go over the differences between the two, our clients find it easy to understand, and even more important – easy to implement; so let’s get into it.

A detox fast consists of drinking liquid, and liquid only. Sure other fasts out there, are built around not eating at certain points in the day, and eating at others – and this is why we make sure our clients know that our way is just that – our way. It is not the definitive way, and if you want to go out and do your own thing; that’s your choice. But here at DetoxCleansingDiet.org a detox fast is drinking filtered, or distilled, water with a pinch of Himalayan sea salt, and a squirt of fresh lemon juice, to structure the water of for maximum benefits.

Himalayan sea salt is supposed to contain 84 minerals and elements, although I haven’t been able to find an actual study that outlines these elements; so it might be more hype than anything else. However, Dr. Barbara Hendel’s published work, titled, “Water and Salt, The Essence of Life” states that this kind of sea salt is important maintaining a healthy balance of electrolytes (the stuff you have no idea what they’re talking about in Gatorade commercials), helping the kidney get rid of excess acidity, and regulating blood sugar.

The lemon juice helps you maintain a healthy amount of alkalinity in the body, balancing your pH levels. So we take these two elements and add them together, and we stress that this structured water be consumed at room temperature – never cold. Cold water causes veins to constrict, which makes it harder for the trace elements to reach your blood stream.

Other drinks that are allowed are mixed greens that have been broken down into a fine powder you can mix with water. The producers of these greens claim that the greens “come to life” at the cellular level when they are mixed with water. Who’s to say if this is really true or just clever marketing, but one thing it doesn’t do is hurt you – that’s for sure. The last liquid are fresh green juices, and these are juices with nothing else but green vegetables; which have a high level of chlorophyll in them. Chlorophyll helps the digestive process, helps formulate hemoglobin and red blood cells, and detoxifies toxins that can lead to cancer just to name a few of the benefits.

These three kinds of liquids are used during a fast, which can last as long as three days.  We don’t advocate going longer than three days on a fast because the metabolism actually slows down, as the body goes into self-preservation, believing it is in the beginning stages of a starvation. This process then releases the stress hormone known as cortisol, which causes a whole host of problems – most importantly, storing the belly fat known as “visceral fat.” Fasting can also damage muscles, which occurs because there are such high levels of cortisol in the system. All this cortisol releases amino acids from your muscles, and converts them into sugar. In other words, your muscles are being jacked for their amino acids – which then helps to break down your muscles.

There are even more reasons why we don’t advocate fasting past a few days, but this is more than enough reason for most clients before they agree. If you want to do more, once again, that is your business; and we wish you good luck on your journey.

A cleanse is made up of everything found in a fast, but green smoothies are allowed, which is a blend of green foods. Salads can be consumed as well, and in some instances where some of our clients are not able to handle a full “green” cleanse, we give them the option of adding fruits to the mix as well. With a cleanse, because you can eat, and because a smoothie is, essentially, still a whole food that has not been stripped of important fiber, we focus on seven to ten day cleanses. Although it is possible to stay on a cleanse for as long as 30 days, we don’t advocate it; just because it isn’t very practical in the world we live today.

A very easy cleanse to do is a 2 day cleanse, which is just applying everything we talked about, spread out over the course of two days. I believe, anyone can do a 2 day cleanse, even children, although it’s probably not a good idea if they have not been brought up with cleansing as a part of their experience – better to let them grow into pre-teens before introducing the concept to them; and even then it’s going to be hard – believe me, I know from personal experience. My son looks at like I have two heads when I ask him to do a cleanse; but I’m determined, and I know I’ll get him to submit at some point in time!

So there you have it, a cleanse anyone can do. The question is, are you going to read this and say, “Wow, sounds like a good idea,” as you go about your day; or are you going to take the next step and actually implement it in your life? Did you know your liver was the second largest organ in your body? I didn’t either until I started doing research for these articles. Hey, if you know me, you know I don’t fake the funk. I’m a health enthusiast, not a health expert; and the more I learn about how the body works, the more I’m amazed at how awesome it is.

The liver is designed to filter out toxins from the blood stream – when it is working properly. These toxins are neutralized through a series of processes. Interestingly enough, some of the chemicals used to break down these pollutants are recycled, and the rest is shipped off to your digestive system through a substance known as bile.

If that was al it did, it will still be a valuable piece of hardware in our complex system; but that’s just the beginning. It also helps to store glycogen and regulate blood sugar levels. It regulates molecules and enzymes involved with protein metabolism.  It breaks down fat and produces cholesterol. It stores iron, copper, and a range of vitamins. It helps to regulate hormones. It neutralizes free radicals with antioxidants – and the most important piece, produces bile.

Bile, which is made up of salts, cholesterol, bilirubin, water, and other compounds, serves two purposes. It helps with carrying away all the crap that was produced during the liver detox process; and dumps it into the small intestine. Obviously that’s an over-simplification, but I like keeping things as simple as possible. Next, the bile, while sitting in the small intestine, also helps the body digest, as well as absorb, fatty foods that aren’t fully dissolved by the stomach and digestive enzymes.

First up are commercial products that claim their industrial-strength, warehouse-chemical produced pill is going to help detox your body’s organs. Sadly, most people still buy into the marketing hype, and forget to look at the product itself. When you use a bunch of man-made chemical-compounds, and introduce that into the body, it usually causes more harm than good. With that being said, there are still some products being made out there, that keep the body in mind when they are being produced, and they are absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately, they are few and far between; and because there is more care going into their production, they are more expensive than the garbage being peddled through normal media channels, like TV, magazines, and radio.

So how to cleanse your liver in the best way possible is to take proactive steps to create a healthy environment for it to thrive in.

  • Avoid caffeine, alcohol and cigarette consumption as much as possible.
  • Avoid consuming non-foods – crackers, chips, TV/micro-waveable meals, syrups, dressings, etc.
  • Avoid ‘white’ foods e.g. white bread, rice, sugar, cakes, pasta, etc.
  • Avoid fried foods and the use of butter, margarine and processed vegetable oils
  • Avoid toxic pest control in your home and on your lawn, garden or fruit trees.
  • Be wary of the personal care products you use. For example: deodorant, shampoo, lotion, etc. If you see a long list of ingredients you have a hard time trying to say out loud – that’s a clear indication of how potentially dangerous those chemicals can be to your inner environment. There are alternatives, but like anything else – because they are being produced with more care, they require more money to produce; which then gets reflected in the price you end up paying.
  • Ease up on the use of air fresheners, and “industrial-strength” household products.
  • Use plastics the way they were meant to be used. Do not microwave food in plastic containers. Do not store soups, stews, or other liquids in plastic. Instead use glass. Even baby bottles should be glass.
  • When using Teflon, make sure to avoid the pan smoking, which means the release of toxins found within the Teflon.
  • Open your window and ventilate often. If you keep plants around the home, that helps too; because plants are natural air detoxifiers.
  • Get a shower filter and a drinking water filter to clean out your water.
  • Unplug electronics or devices from the wall that are being used on a daily basis – they produce electromagnetic frequencies (EMF) that do have an effect on your body.
  • Adapt a green water-based diet
  • Find out what your body is allergic too, and avoid those foods – eating them puts more of a stress on the body.
  • Go organic when possible
  • Drink at least 100 ounces of water a day
  • Take an appropriate multivitamin and mineral formula
  • Consider adding lecithin to your cereal at breakfast
  • Consider taking the herbal supplement ‘milk thistle’

Now do I expect you to do all of this? Heck no! It took me a few years to be able to adopt this whole list, and there are still times when I have to remind myself to take some proactive steps. This is a process. The idea is to just get started. The faster you begin making a healthy environment for your liver, the healthier you become as well.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret, and this took me a very long time to figure out – there really no such thing as “the best.” When you type in, “best body cleanse for weight loss” into your favorite search engine, you are seeing results based on other peoples’ perspective.

What is “the best” for me, may not be the best for you. What I think is fantastic, you may think is, “just okay.” The only real way to know which weight loss detox cleanse is the best, is to put them all to the test – your test. Only by you giving them all a try can you figure out which is the best for you.

Now I know this is probably not what you want to hear, but you’re going to find, at least in my limited experience, whatever new mission you undertake, requires much more than you originally had anticipated.

When I first started martial arts, I thought I was going to be learning kicks the first month. That was the reason I joined. I wanted to be able to do a round house kick and show people how badass I was. So what happened? I spent weeks doing boring stretches because my body was so rigid and out of shape. That was followed by weeks of learning simple movements. A few MONTHS later we were starting kicks. You see, everything starts out simple, until you realize there are certain underlying principles to whatever you’re trying to do that you must learn if you hope to be successful long term.

See, I’m not a very religious person, but I have read somewhere, “in all they getting, get understanding,” which I believe is from Proverbs if I’m not mistaken. If you want to avoid the sea of confusion, take time to learn the fundamentals of that which you want to pursue. If you’re interested in purchasing detox products and weight loss tactics, learn the basic fundamentals of detoxing and weight loss. This will help you to become a much more informed shopper, and get you that much closer to your goal.

For instance, when you have a fundamental understanding of detoxing and how the body burns fat, you can look up a term like “detox tea weight loss,” quickly eliminate the gimmicks and focus instead on the real deals.

So with all that being said, I’m sure you’re still asking the question, “What is the best cleanse for weight loss?” The best one that works for you. I know that sounds real vague, but would you rather I try to sell you on a product that I’m not sure may or may not be the best product for you? Aren’t you tired of being sold stuff that looks good, sounds good, but doesn’t deliver the goods?!
